Get Started:
Thanks for your interest in going on the 2023 Family Journey Camp Out! Please read below to get a good idea of what to expect in our application process. Space on our trips is limited; we usually have more applicants than we have space for. Due to our funding, we prioritize families living in Washington State, though we do accept applicants from other states when possible. Turning in an application does not guarantee a spot on the trip, but getting your application in early helps your chances. Contact us at any time with questions or for help with the application. (Email/Phone)
Trip Dates:
Trip 1: Friday, June 9th-Sunday, June 11th (FULL)
Trip 2: Saturday, September 2nd-Monday, September 4th
Application deadline: We accept applications on a rolling basis, and applications are open until the trips are filled. By applying early you are more likely to secure a spot on one of our trips.
We want this application process and preparation to be easy. We are ready to answer any questions. Here are the steps and what to expect:
Review the information on this website and the FAQ’s for the hike.
If the camp-out seems like a good fit for your family, submit the application. Space is limited. Get your application in as soon as you can, ideally before April 1st.
Within 2-3 weeks of receiving the application, we will contact you to answer any questions you may have and talk about the next steps.
We will schedule a Zoom intake to mutually determine if the trip is a good fit at this time. We provide you information, answer questions you have, and learn a bit more about your grief journey. You will also learn more about the camp-out.
After this meeting, a team at Wild Grief will put together groups for each trip that are a good fit together based on ages of children, who died, and where everyone is on their grief journey. We generally have more applicants than we have space for, so we try to put care into creating as cohesive groups as possible.
If you are accepted into the program, we will all join together (families, leaders, and other Wild Grief volunteers) for an orientation. There you will get a feel for the group and get any additional questions answered.
